Picoscope 3000s USB lost connectivity

Post by davetiong »

hi, i am new to picoscope. i had just purchased 3406D. i am using with teledyne HVP120 probe 100:1 voltage. i need to capture waveform from a DC generator that is able to output 5kW. for a flat line waveform, the picoscope works flawlessly capturing the voltage. problem occurs when i turn on pulsing (square wave) at the generator. even for a 5khz, the picoscope 3406D will just lost connectivity to picoscope 7 or 6. i do notice the green light turns red. the voltage is not at maximum, ~250Vdc. is there anything that i need to configure for the probe or picoscope for it to work correctly?

That type of probe is asking to kill your scope when using that amount of power.
Use a HV differential probe to measure on mains voltage devices.
