Measuring potential and current in a three electrode cell

Post by NPianta »

Hello everyone!

I'm interested in using the picoscope to measure potential and currents in a three electrode cell.

I have a three electrode cell made like the one you can see in the attatched image. I'm planning to impose a wave between two electrodes (in particular WE and RE in the cell shown). This wave can be generated by the picoscope I'm using (a 5444D with a generator channel and 4 measuring channels), and no current should flow between these two electrodes. I would also measure both the potential between WE and RE and the current which should flow between CE and RE.

Is it possible to do all of that with my 5444D and a series of BNC cables or do I need a special equipment?

Thank you in advance and have a nice day!

Yes u can do it
u just have to add a resistor in series with u cell
the resistor should be around the same order as u cell impedance
and then use match channels A-B(across cell) and C-D (across resistor)

note the instrument do no provide much current out of the generator max current = 2V/50Ohm

as it a old post i skip making a drawing else response if its still relevant
